Is a Mini Facelift Right for You?

fashionable young brunette woman tasting great wine. You may have never even heard of a mini facelift, but there are many benefits to this procedure – and it might be the right one for you if you are looking for a way to erase signs of aging but you aren’t quite ready for a full facelift yet. Here is some more information on what is involved in a mini facelift so that you can decide if it’s right for you!

What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift differs from a full facelift in that it is less invasive. A traditional facelift can help with issues of the midface, around the eyes and nose, and the jowls, chin, and jaw. A mini facelift is used to remove excess fat and lift the skin of the lower two-thirds of the face: the cheeks, neck, and jowls.

A mini facelift is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. An incision is made in front of the ear so that any scarring can be hidden by the hair and by the natural creases of the face and ears. The skin is lifted, fat is removed, and the underlying tissue is tightened. The incisions are closed with small stitches to minimize scarring. The entire procedure takes about 2 hours, and the patient can usually go home a few hours afterwards.

There may be swelling and bruising for up to 10 days after the procedure, and the stitches will dissolve on their own within a few days. Most patients can go back to work and their other normal activities after a few days, although exercise and more strenuous activities should be avoided for a month after the procedure.

You’ll start to see results from your mini facelift almost immediately – your face will look tighter, younger, and rejuvenated – and you’ll continue to see improvement as swelling from the surgery goes down.
