I’ve been wanting to do chin augmentation and also started noticing skin laxity on my neck, under chin & jowl. I have very good skin, It’s not noticeable to others but it bothers me. I look more tired in the pictures. I started to research of plastic surgeons with the skills and good bedside manner. When I read Dr. Mao’s reviews and saw his patients’ before and after pictures , I felt like I found my surgeon. His practice is 1.5 hours away without traffic. Dr Mao was immediately put me at ease with his bedside manner. No questions are too dumb. He suggested deep plane facelift along with chin augmentation. I was shocked at his suggestion. I came for mini procedure not the full deep plane facelift. He further explained deep plane facelift would produce more natural result as it move the facial / neck tissue in 1 unit and address neck ,lower face & part of mid face. He also suggested to do it under local anesthesia. As a nurse, I understand that general anesthesia is more risky, nausea & vomiting after face procedure is certainly not desirable. He’s the first surgeon that I had a consult with, I trusted his opinion and decided to proceed. He prescribed me oral antibiotics, pain and anti anxiety medication to be taken the day of surgery. To my surprise, I could manage the procedure under local anesthesia. I could hear what’s going on but was not fully aware. He completed one side of the face , then I was instructed to empty my bladder before moving on to the other side. It was like a twilight zone. My whole head was bandaged tightly. Recovery was tough. My face swelled up like a football 🏈. He prescribed prednisone taper to reduce swelling. I have to say this procedure is not for the faint of heart. I looked lopsided, my mouth couldn’t fully opened. I was so scared that I would look “botched”. I reached Dr Mao on the weekend in which he responded right away and reassured me that what I was experiencing was normal. I documented my recovery in pictures and emailed his nurse Amanda who was very responsive and reassured me that my recovery was on target. I returned to work after less than 2 weeks, covered my face with mask 😷. I still looked off. I was disheartened and started to ask myself if I made a mistake. Both Dr. Mao & his nurse were very supportive throughout this emotional roller coaster. After 3 weeks, I started to turn a corner and I had hope that I would be just fine. One of my biggest fear is to lose my self identity. Moving forward, 4 months post op, I cannot be happier. I look like my younger self in mid thirties. My result is very natural and yet my profile is enhanced, neck and jowls are snatched. The best Christmas present for myself. I have been seeing Dr. Mao for Botox and Filler for many years. I have been to several other MD's in the past and his skill and eye for aesthetics is the best that I have experienced. The entire office staff is warm and professional. I am planning a Rhinoplasty in the near future and Dr. Mao will absolutely be my surgeon. Highly recommend!!

Dr. Mao and Amanda, as a team, are unbeatable. They work tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcome for each patient. Dr Mao views his patients with pride, and every detail of his work is flawless and natural. He has a critical eye that is unmatched. His nurse, Amanda, is phenomenal. Warm and caring, she makes sure you are comfortable before, during,, and after any procedure you may choose. I did find the office staff to be less than professional at times, but Amanda always personally tends to each patient. Quite a remarkable team.

I had rhinoplasty with Dr. Mao in November and my results are fantastic. Dr. Mao did exactly what I asked for and my nose came out even better than I expected. I had a really great experience with Dr.Mao. The whole process went really smooth & easy and I was comfortable the whole time. Him and the staff are super nice and welcoming. He also seems confident in his work and you can tell he wants the best results for his patients which made me even more comfortable. I got an otoplasty surgery, and couldn’t be happier with my results. I would recommend him x1000 for any surgery he offers :)!

First two pictures are before and the last three pictures are after. I got my surgery last year august 31 2021 and the healing process was worth the wait. I am so happy with my results. Since I was young I’ve been self conscious of my profile, with my chin going a bit too in and my nose too out. I wanted it to be proportionate and dr Johnny mao did just that. Everyone is always surprised I’ve gotten surgery before because he made it look so natural. I got a chin implant and a nose job and I’m very happy with the results ☺️☺️

My experience was great with Dr. Mao and his team. Dr. Mao was attentive and informative and gave me honest advice as well as kept my expectations realistic. After undergoing a deep plain facelift, chin lipo, and upper & lower blepharoplasty with Dr. Mao last year, I was so pleased with the results that I recently had a revision rhinoplasty and under eye laser treatment. My original rhinoplasty was ok but the tip was drooping and my nostrils were too large for my face. Dr. Mao did an absolutely flawless job! I had the other procedures done at the same time under general anesthesia but underwent the rhinoplasty procedure in his office (awake) with his wonderful assistant, Amanda. Everything went according to plan with no issues at all. Dr. Mao is a gem! He is patient, kind, talented and you can tell that he loves his profession. I am very happy that I made the decision to rejuvenate my appearance and I could not have chosen a better doctor than Dr. Mao.
