Dr. Mao’s practice is a wonderful place to be seen for injectables. Dr. Mao and Arissa are phenomenal injectors. My experience with Arissa is that she truly listens to her patients and takes her time to understand your concerns and works with you to achieve the best possible outcomes. PA Arissa was AMAZING for my injections. I’ve been to numerous doctors in San Francisco and across the country, and her results have been my favorite. She really listened to what I was looking for (as natural as possible, lifting up my eyes, etc) and her injections were really well done. No bruising and minimal swelling. I will absolutely be coming back because I really liked how she listened to what I was going for and made great corrections that worked well for my face. Entire office is very kind and professional.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mao Facial Plastic Surgery for my first experience with lip fillers, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results and the service I received. After talking with my injector we decided on one syringe of Juvederm Ultra, and my injector, Arissa Schweiss, was absolutely fantastic. Arissa Schweiss, a key member of Dr. Mao’s team, she was incredibly thorough in her approach. Before the procedure, she took the time to explain everything to me in detail, from the ingredients in the Juvederm Ultra filler to what I could expect during and after the injection process. Her expertise and patience made me feel very comfortable, especially since this was my first time getting lip fillers. During the procedure, Arissa's precision and gentle technique were impressive. She took great care in ensuring that the filler was distributed evenly, resulting in beautifully natural-looking lips. What truly stood out to me was her attentiveness to my comfort level throughout the entire process. She frequently checked in to make sure I was feeling okay and explained each step as she went along. Arissa also provided me with comprehensive aftercare instructions, ensuring I knew how to take care of my lips to achieve the best possible results. She was very patient in answering all of my questions and made sure I felt confident about the aftercare routine. Another highlight of my experience was that I had some leftover filler from the initial syringe. I saw Arissa the PA at Dr. Mao's office for a liquid facelift and I wish there were more than 5 stars to give! From the moment I walked into the office I was blown away. The office esthetic is regal and luxurious, yet clean and inviting. The front office staff was polite and welcoming. Arissa made me feel comfortable and prepared me for my treatment. I had lost a lot of volume in my face (volume aka face fat lol) and was really not enjoying my appearance. After reviewing some treatment options we landed on the liquid facelift, and I walked out of her office looking 10 years younger! I am beyond happy with my visit, with my treatment, and with Arissa! I came to Dr.Mao’s for liquid rhinoplasty and walked away extremely happy and satisfied with the results. Dr. Mao's physician's assistant Arrisa performed the injections with precision and she did an amazing job and I couldn’t be any happier. The before and after photos speak for themselves. She gave me a bridge and a more defined nose where before, it was wider and I always struggled to keep my glasses on. With my new nose came a slimmer face even tho none were injected in my cheeks. Needless to say, coming to Dr. Mao’s office was the best decision. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their office to anyone looking to have liquid rhinoplasty done.

My experience with Dr Mao, Arissa , Amanda and all staff was beyond my expectations! If I could rate higher it’s a 10++ I had been contemplating a neck lift for several years. From my first consultation through my recovery, the level of care was top notch. Dr. Mao is very down to earth which immediately put me at ease . Dr. Mao’s expertise helped me determine the work that best aligned with my rejuvenation goals. I ended choosing to do face lift ,neck lift and my eyes. Amanda was very efficient setting up my surgery and ensuring I was fully ready to go with detailed instructions. Arissa, met me the day after my surgery which fell on a Saturday with calm enthusiasm and incredible diligence in after surgery care. I had my original rhinoplasty in NJ in 2022, I was left very unhappy with results. I saw Dr. Mao and he was so confident in his ability to give me more desired and natural results. I am currently 7 months post-op after a tip only in office revision rhinoplasty, and I couldn't be happier. It has been such an easy healing process. Hi Dr.Mao . I just wanted to say thank you 1 million times over for the breath of fresh life you’ve given me, quite literally. Haha. Not only were you able to help me get my life back from constant sinus infections, but my nose looks so refined and feminine compared to what it used to be. A woman even complemented me about six months after my surgery saying I had a “Victorian look” to me and said that she thought it was because of my nose and facial profile. Quickly, I realized it was in part due to my rhinoplasty. (Little did she know). Anyways, thank you again Dr.Mao! You and the staff were wonderful from start to finish. With his signature artistic eye, he repaired and shaped my earlobes in a way that was so natural, that his modifications were undetectable! Now I can pull my hair back, sport new earrings with confidence knowing my new earlobes are in keeping with my face and neck procedures. Dr. Johnny Mao is by far the best plastic surgeon I have found in the metropolitan area. His expertise and artistic eye have afforded me the facelift and necklift I have desired for many years. My results have been noticeable, yet natural, which is a balance that is not often attained by most surgeons. I feel and look refreshed with a smoother, more supple, yet firm appearance. My neck is sculpted and without wrinkles now! As a follow up, I elected to have a Fractional CO2, in order to remove dark spots and sun damage, and believe me, it enhanced the work Dr Mao did during surgery! I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Mao's work, as his professionalism, care, and execution of his craft are all to which every plastic surgeon should aspire. His staff, and especially his nurse, Amanda, mirror his commitment to his patients. Dr. Mao did an outstanding job on my eyelid ptosis repair. I couldn’t be any happier with my results and wish that I had done the procedure sooner. He is quite meticulous and explained the different measurements of eyelids which I did not even know it mattered. His staff was very friendly and accommodating. The entire experience was positive. I have been a patient of Dr. Mao for several years and have had multiple procedures done. This last one was a second facelift. At first, my face swelled up so bad that I couldn't recognize myself. But after 2-3 weeks, I saw big improvements. The wrinkles to the sides of my mouth are gone. My face looks more slim and lifted. My jawlines are crisp! I now look younger than my 10 years younger boyfriend. Chuckle! I totally trust Dr. Mao. He is an outstanding surgeon and cares a lot about his work!

Over the last couple years, I have had several rounds of Botox and fillers from Dr. Mao, and the experience and result were extremely positive. At first, my intent was to explore options to correct asymmetry between my eyebrows and a surgery timeline for my droopy eye lids. Dr. Mao explained in detail what surgical procedure can do and possible side effects and risks. In the end, he recommended that I start with Botox and fillers first. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. His injection points actually lifted one of my eye brows, making them look more symmetrical. The fillers compensated my loss of collagen from aging. All in all, no one believed I have lived half a century, and if someone asks what my secret is, I am afraid Dr. Mao would be part of the answers! I am still looking at the timeline for him to lift my lids... I wouldn't go to anyone else but him.

I got rhinoplasty with Dr. Mao about two years ago. Today, I looked at old family photos. I forgot all the feelings of self hate I once had felt. I’ve been wanting to do chin augmentation and also started noticing skin laxity on my neck, under chin & jowl. I have very good skin, It’s not noticeable to others but it bothers me. I look more tired in the pictures. I started to research of plastic surgeons with the skills and good bedside manner. When I read Dr. Mao’s reviews and saw his patients’ before and after pictures , I felt like I found my surgeon. His practice is 1.5 hours away without traffic. Dr Mao was immediately put me at ease with his bedside manner. No questions are too dumb. He suggested deep plane facelift along with chin augmentation. I was shocked at his suggestion. I came for mini procedure not the full deep plane facelift. He further explained deep plane facelift would produce more natural result as it move the facial / neck tissue in 1 unit and address neck ,lower face & part of mid face. He also suggested to do it under local anesthesia. As a nurse, I understand that general anesthesia is more risky, nausea & vomiting after face procedure is certainly not desirable. He’s the first surgeon that I had a consult with, I trusted his opinion and decided to proceed. He prescribed me oral antibiotics, pain and anti anxiety medication to be taken the day of surgery. To my surprise, I could manage the procedure under local anesthesia. I could hear what’s going on but was not fully aware. He completed one side of the face , then I was instructed to empty my bladder before moving on to the other side. It was like a twilight zone. My whole head was bandaged tightly. Recovery was tough. My face swelled up like a football 🏈. He prescribed prednisone taper to reduce swelling. I have to say this procedure is not for the faint of heart. I looked lopsided, my mouth couldn’t fully opened. I was so scared that I would look “botched”. I reached Dr Mao on the weekend in which he responded right away and reassured me that what I was experiencing was normal. I documented my recovery in pictures and emailed his nurse Amanda who was very responsive and reassured me that my recovery was on target. I returned to work after less than 2 weeks, covered my face with mask 😷. I still looked off. I was disheartened and started to ask myself if I made a mistake. Both Dr. Mao & his nurse were very supportive throughout this emotional roller coaster. After 3 weeks, I started to turn a corner and I had hope that I would be just fine. One of my biggest fear is to lose my self identity. Moving forward, 4 months post op, I cannot be happier. I look like my younger self in mid thirties. My result is very natural and yet my profile is enhanced, neck and jowls are snatched. The best Christmas present for myself. Thank you, Dr Mao & Nurse Amanda for your expertise, patience for dealing my emotional recovery journey and excellent result.
