What is Minimally Invasive Surgery?

Cosmetic Surgery With the variety of cosmetic procedures and surgeries available, there is an option out there for whatever you need. However, the word “surgery” can be intimidating. Most cosmetic procedures actually require very little surgery, which is why the term “minimally invasive” procedure is important to understand.

What Is Minimally Invasive Surgery?

Innovations in surgical tools and techniques have made cosmetic procedures relatively seamless. Rather than creating large openings, surgeons can perform intricate procedures through just a few small incisions. During surgery, you’ll still be anesthetized, and may need to make a few preparations before. However, beyond that, you can expect less recovery time, minimal-to-no scarring or incision marks, and lower costs. In many cases, cosmetic surgery requires no hospital time, and you’ll be back on your feet within a day or two.

What does Dr. Mao consider Minimally invasive?

Dr. Mao is able to perform many procedures under local anesthesia in the comfort and privacy of our procedure room in the Orange, CT location. Some of his most popular minimally-invasive procedures include:

  • Upper and lower eyelid surgery
  • Tip only rhinoplasty
  • Chin and neck liposuction
  • Laser skin resurfacing
  • Injectable fillers using a cannula
  • Small scar revisions
  • Mini Facelift

Is a Cosmetic Procedure Right for Me?

Cosmetic surgery is all about what your goals are. If you want to reduce signs of aging or enhance an aspect of yourself, it’s important to have realistic expectations before diving into surgery. Speak with people you know who’ve had similar treatments, research the procedure, and read testimonials.

Dr. Mao also encourages patients to ask a lot of questions, make informed decisions, and ensure they’re expectations are achievable.  After a personal consultation, patients leave feeling well-informed about the best treatment options. They understand the benefits and limitations of select procedures, and ultimately leave with an informed treatment plan to get the results they want.

  1. I am looking for some facial plastic surgery for the upper mid face, around the cheek bone temple area, to draw up and back the marionette lines and elevate that area. Don’t feel I need a lot of work on my eyes yet, but that no doubt is coming in future
In the past have had lower face work done. The upper temple area as I see it will not require fascial pulling, as that area around the masseter muscle and in front of the ear is still tight from the lower lift. I am looking for a new england PS to develop relations with that will gradually work with me as my face continues to age. A price RANGE of the work described would be greatly appreciated. Of course I appreciate an actual consult is required, but I’d like the estimated range before proceeding to consult. This is with Dr johnny Mao BTW
    Thank you, s.coyne

  2. Please call me regarding the cost of a mini face lift. I am over on LI until Wednesday of next week. However, you can call me here at:
631-509-4019 any day after 3PM. I will be back in CT on Thursday of next week. My number in CT is 203-590-3646
There are tons of plastic surgeons on Long Island, so their prices might be a lot lower. I did get a price for a full lift, including eyes, for $8500 by a board certified plastic surgeon who is head in that field of one of the major hospitals here in Port Jefferson. Can you give me an idea of what price your doctor would charge for the same or just a mini face lift?? Thanks so much. Linda Pavia

Would surgery to get ears “pinned back” so they don’t stick out as much and are even considered minimally invasive??

  4. I am 67 yrs young but I need help. I feel young inside but not on my face. My face has sagged. Also under my chin and neck. I have had a body lift due to bariatric surgery. But my thighs were never touched. I feel deformed. I would like a consultation.

Dr. Mao's skill speaks for itself. Checking through his gallery is all the evidence you need. This does not, however show the kindness, gentleness and enthusiasm of this most competent surgeon. I got exactly what I had hoped for; a more youthful look without any evidence of having "work." Dr. Mao was available from start. . .

I wanted to thank everyone especially Dr. Johnny Mao for the wonderful treatment I received. I had a surgical procedure done to remove a basal cell cancer on my cheek area. Dr Mao and the entire staff were fantastic. The admission process, the surgery and the results, again, fantastic. I can't say enough about everyone. . .

My experience with Dr. Mao has been nothing but pleasant. My first appointment I meet with him and talked about my options and took pictures. He had done morphed photos to show me what my nose could potentially look like. He was very personable he made sure that I was comfortable during appointments and gave. . .

I will always be grateful to you for your thoughtfulness and consideration, also the wonderful work you have done on my face. Your wonderful bedside manner and keeping in touch with me is comparable to none. Your staff is excellent and your work as a family. You made me comfortable the minute I met you. . .
