Laser skin resurfacing can help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and blotchy skin. It is safe, can be repeated, and is suitable for most patients of any age.
How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Laser skin resurfacing can be performed with either a carbon dioxide laser or an erbium laser. Dr. Mao will meet with you to determine the appropriate laser; the erbium laser is more effective on deeper wrinkles as well as for people with darker skin tones. The procedure is the same regardless of the laser used; the laser is moved back and forth over the targeted area of the face or neck multiple times until the wrinkle, age spot, or scar is no longer visible.
How Long Will It Take To See Results?
The procedure itself can take approximately a half an hour and uses local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Some patients require up to two hours of treatment depending on the results they are seeking, and the area being treated. Results are immediately visible. You may need a second treatment to achieve the results you desire. Recovery only takes a few days, during which time you may experience mild swelling and slight discomfort.
